Find Which Eyewear Frames – Sunglasses & Optical Frames – Best Suit Your Face Shape

By D.E Team │ February.04.2023

Many factors exist when choosing the correct eyewear for yourself – this usually ranges from lens types and styles, prints and colors, overall size, material, and of course the frame shape.

Warby Parker designers suggest that ideally, when trying to figure out which frame shape to pair with your face shape, the objective should be to create a visually-appealing balance between the frame shape and face shape. The frame shape (round, square, cateye, aviator, ect.) can highlight the face’s angles (whether those angles appear softer on round faces or more sharper or angular on square faces) – in order to create a balance, opt for matching more angular or sharper faces (ex. square, diamond) with more rounder frames, and more rounder faces (ex. round, oval, heart) with more angular frames.

It’s important to note that this is not a perfect science and just a guideline – so it shouldn’t stop you from wearing any of your favorite frames!

6 Common Face Shapes & The Different Types Of Frame Shapes That Suit Them Best

How To Find Your Face Shape: You can quickly find your face shape (and also virtually try on different glasses) on the popular website, FaceShape.com, linked here. You can also download the Find Your Face Shape app on Apple linked here,  or the Hiface app on android linked here.

1.Round Faces: a round face has the width of the face at the cheekbones almost the same as the length of the face, with a softer and much less defined jawline than with a square face.

2.Oval Faces: an oval face is longer than it is wide, and also has a round chin and soft jawline.

3.Square Faces: a square face means the forehead, cheekbones and jawline are all about the same widths, the sides of face are usually straight, and the jawline is soft, angular and not really soft.

4.Rectangle Faces: rectangular faces are similar to square-shaped faces, but longer than they are wide.

5.Heart-Shaped Faces: a heart-shaped face will have a larger, wider forehead, and then an angled, pointed chin.

6.Diamond-Shaped Faces: a diamond-shaped face has a narrow forehead, wider (often dramatic) cheekbones, and a narrow chin.
