As much as you might want to spruce up your home or commercial office, unfortunately, we don’t all have a natural green thumb, and a busy schedule can cause a slip in proper daily plant care. However, this problem can easily be solved with super low maintenance (little sunlight and/or watering), hard-to-kill indoor plants, below:
Watering Requirements: When the peace lily plant and its leaves start to droop a bit, it’s telling you it needs to be watered. Watering your peace lily around once a week will usually keep your peace lily hydrated.
Sunlight Requirements: Your peace lily will need indirect sunlight – e.g. placed a few feet away from a sunlit window, or closer to a window with sheer curtains that can filter the sunlight. Bright, direct sunlight can be harsh, and dark spots will not let the peace lily to flourish.
Watering Requirements: Thoroughly water the aloe plant’s soil roughly every 2 weeks, and drain the excess water. Over-watering can easily kill the aloe plant.
Sunlight Requirements: Do not place your aloe vera plant in dark spots or direct sunlight; instead, aloe vera needs indirect sunlight – e.g. place the plant a few feet away from a glass window, or closer to a window with sheer curtains (that filter sunlight).
Watering Requirements: Water your orchids about once a week during the warmer seasons, and once every 10-14 days during the cooler winter season.
Sunlight Requirements: Direct sunlight may be too harsh for your orchid, while too little light will prevent them from flowering. Ideally, bright, indirect sunlight (few feet away from window) is best for orchids to flourish in.
Watering Requirements: Water only when soil is very dry, allowing excess water to drain – approximately every 1 – 2 weeks during warmer weather, or 3 – 4 weeks during the winter or cooler weather. Careful! A cactus can be easily killed with over-watering.
Sunlight Requirements: Cacti require plenty of sunlight, therefore it’s best to place your cactus on a windowsill next to your desk space. Cacti do well in bright, indirect sunlight, and can also thrive in direct sunlight.
Watering Requirements: Allow the African violet’s soil to dry between watering (watering roughly twice a week is common), but the soil should never be bone dry. Over-watering African violets can easily kill this plant.
Sunlight Requirements: African violets need bright, indirect sunlight, because intense direct sunlight can burn the leaves.
Watering Requirements: Generally, a snake plant should be watered once a month during winter, and about every 1-2 weeks during the rest of the year. Do not over water your snake plant, as this can easily kill it.
Sunlight Requirements: Bright direct light is too harsh for snake plants. Snake plants need indirect sunlight – e.g. place the plant a few feet away from a well sunlit window.
Watering Requirements: Only water succulents when the soil in the container is crumbly and bone dry. During the winter months, this could mean only watering your succulent(s) once or twice the entire season, but in warmer conditions, watering this plant around once or twice a week is common.
Sunlight Requirements: Succulents can survive bright direct sunlight, but grow best in bright, indirect sunlight. This is because sometimes bright direct sunlight can be too harsh on the plant.
Watering Requirements:If you’re growing your lucky bamboo in water, use filtered or distilled water, as tap water may contain chemicals that can burn its stalks.
If your lucky bamboo is growing in soil, water the soil when the top inch of the soil is dry (roughly once a week).
Sunlight Requirements: Lucky bamboo can tolerate light shade and indirect sunlight. However, your bamboo plant will grow larger in bright light.
Watering Requirements: Do not excessively water your yucca plant, as this can easily kill it. Let your yucca plant grow in well-drained, moist soil, and only water once soil is dry (usually once a week).
Sunlight Requirements: While the yucca plant can thrive in direct sunlight, it does best in bright, indirect sunlight.
